Sports Software -
FAQ (Frequently
Asked Questions)
|
|
| Q |
Can I use
SID and GameDiary for multiple sports? |
|
|
A
|
Yes. Both software programs organize and store your data in a
"Season". When you create a new Season, you specify a
sport and the name of the player athlete for which the Season
applies. The software uses the specified sport to dynamically load an
appropriate sports statistics package.. This concepts enables SID and
GameDiary
to support Basketball, Soccer, Football, Volleyball, Baseball, Softball,
Hockey, Lacrosse, Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Wrestling, Gymnastics and
virtually every other sport.

| Q |
Can I modify the statistics for my sport? |
|
| A
|
Yes.
SID and GameDiary comes with a tool to
build sports packages tailored to your needs. The GDStats tool
enables you to modify the statistical panel's contents and layout and to
dynamically build any formulas necessary for calculated
statistics. Select "File/Sports Package Editor" from the main
menu. A sport package is currently limited to a total of 20
statistics for any sport. |

| Q |
What type of picture formats and multimedia
are supported? |
|

BMP, JPG, GIF, and WMF. Supported video and sound formats include
AVI, MPEG, WAV, WMV, WMA and MP3. Most other formats playable in
the Windows Media Player are also supported. |

|
| Q |
Can I open more than one Season at a time? |
|
| A
|
Yes. Each Season will appear in its own
instance of SID or GameDiary. You can easily copy media items from one
Season to another by using your mouse to drag a media item in one Season
to the other one. |

|
|
| Q |
I've created my own Seasons but want to look
at the Sample Season that comes with the software again. How do I
reload the Sample season?
|
|
| A
|
The easiest way is to choose File/Recent Seasons
from the main menu and select the item that includes Sample.ssn
(GameDiary) or SampleTeam.ssn (SID).
The sample Season is stored in a directory
that is available to all users on your system. Depending on your
Windows setup, this directory is located under "C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents\My Seasons\", "C:\WinNT\Profiles\All
Users\Documents\My Seasons\", "C:\Windows\All Users\Documents\My Seasons\"
(Win 98), or a similar directory path. You can also choose
File/Open Season... from the main menu and navigate to the appropriate
directory to find Sample.ssn or SampleTeam.ssn. |

|
| Q |
When
I open GameDiary or SID, the application stops and the Season is not
fully loaded. How do I recover from this situation?
|
|
| A
|
GameDiary and SID are setup to automatically load the last Season you
used. If for some reason the Season's database gets corrupted and
the application hangs, do the following:
- Terminate the SID or GameDiary application using the Windows Task
Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete).
- While pressing the Shift key, restart SID or GameDiary. This
will display the Open Season dialog box and let you select another
Season (one of your own or the Sample Season).

Outlook's AutoArchive option or uncheck the "Prompt before
